Early Period

Canisius history began on October 26th 1926 with the arrival of father Dr.J.Kurris SJ, Canisius College`s first director. Thanks to him, on June 1st 1927, the First Class of AMS(Algemene Middlebare School) was started. The building of dorm, hall and tennis court finished on July 1st 1929, and on October 26th 1931 Canisius College`s status became completed with the appointing of Father A Van Hoof SJ, as its first rector.
